Gum Blossom Yarns

Stringy Bark

Bark (mid and light browns) from a diverse group of Eucalyptus trees can peel off in long stringy sheets and was used by the First Peoples in Australia for basket weaving, matts, canoe lining, wall and roof construction. It is similar (but more beautiful than) coir coconut fibre. Later the bark was stripped from these mid-sized trees, used in roofs and walls again, prior to cutting the Eucalyptus wood itself for house and furniture building by early settlers.

With 80% extra-fine merino with 20% nylon, this yarn is so soft and durable.  This yarn is perfect for all projects including shawls, socks, accessories and baby clothes.  Yarns are in-stock and ready to ship!
